On Stage in Fashion
About the project
October 14, 2010 – January 22, 2011
The exhibition On Stage in Fashion, created by the Performing Arts Museum, celebrated the collaborations of performers with fashion designers, who together brought contemporary clothing style to theater, opera, and dance. Featuring garments from the fashion and costume collections of the Museum of the City of New York and designs, photographs, and media from The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, the exhibit illustrated over 100 years of these collaborations for mutual benefit. The garments, photographs, ephemera, and media on display represented designers such as Lucile, Chanel, Lanvin, Milgrim, Mainbocher, Bill Blass, Christian Lacroix, Halston, Willi Smith, Isaac Mizrahi, and more.
