Alwin Nikolais’ Total Theater of Motion

About the project

October 21, 2010 – January 15, 2011

The exhibition Alwin Nikolais’ Total Theater of Motion, created by the Performing Arts Museum, brings to light the career of one of the most versatile, innovative and influential artists of the twentieth century, Alwin Nikolais. Nikolais was also a dance theorist, educator, and spokesman for the arts, and within the gallery visitors experienced amazing lighting effects he created, heard sound he composed, examined costumes he designed, and saw videos of his stage dances and ground breaking works for television.
