Legendary caricaturist Al Hirschfeld’s table and chair is a permanently installation in the lobby of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts’ Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center. Originally a chair in the barber shop of the Chrysler Building, it was a 90th birthday present to him from friends in 1993 to replace an older one. He refereed to his chair as the “last functional chair” because it could go up, down, swivel and recline.
