Beatlemania has arrived at Lincoln Center!

Fifty years ago The Beatles came to America and were introduced to a record 73 million viewers on The Ed Sullivan Show. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr instantly captivated the nation. In celebration, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and The GRAMMY Museum® have collaborated on the exhibition Ladies and Gentlemen…The Beatles! I was fortunate enough to be the supporting designer for the NYC debut, and much like those millions of screaming teens 50 years ago, four lads from Liverpool took over my life and my heart for several months. I am proud to announce the exhibition is now open to the public at Lincoln Center.

The exhibition timeline covers their arrival on February 7, 1964 through mid-1966 and provides fresh new insight into how and why The Beatles impacted America in the 1960s—and beyond. Inside the psychedelic hand stenciled walls awaits more than a few treasures. A few of my favorite artifacts are original guitars owned by Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and George Harrison, the original Ludwig drumhead from The Ed Sullivan Show appearance, and John Lennon’s sunglasses. You can also get a drum lesson from Ringo Starr, record your Beatles memories in a living history booth, and sneak a peak into an authentic 1960’s Beatlemania bedroom.
